MADRAS, Ore. (AP) – A Jefferson County couple is facing charges in the death of a 1-year-old. KOIN-TV reports that 25-year-old Raine Austria and 20-year-old Garry Lee Vineyard II are charged with withholding food and medical attention from Katerina Austria. Austria and Vineyard are expected to appear in court Feb. 11.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Multnomah County deputies have recovered the body of a 72-year-old man from the Willamette River. The sheriff’s office says the body was spotted yesterday morning at Portland’s Riverplace Marina. Detectives are investigating, but there were no signs of foul play.
SALEM, Ore. (AP) – A Marion County woman has been charged with murder in the death of her husband. The Statesman Journal reports that 63-year-old Carolyn DiMatteo was arrested Saturday after calling 911 and saying she had shot and killed her husband, 69-year-old Joseph DiMatteo, at their trailer near Lyons.
ROSEBURG, Ore. (AP) – An SUV traveling the wrong way on Interstate 5 collided head-on with a semi-truck early yesterday, killing one person and injuring another. State police say alcohol is being considered a contributing factor, but the investigation remains active.
