BURNS, Ore. (AP) – The FBI has released video of the fatal shooting of Arizona rancher Robert “LaVoy” Finicum during a traffic stop where some of the armed occupiers of an Oregon national wildlife refuge were arrested. The video from an aircraft appears to show an individual who got out of the truck reaching into his pocket. The FBI said Finicum had a loaded handgun in his pocket.
BURNS, Ore. (AP) – The jailed former leader of an armed group occupying an Oregon wildlife refuge reiterated his call for the last few holdouts to leave. In a statement yesterday issued through his lawyer, Ammon Bundy said: “Turn yourselves in, and do not use physical force.”
SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Court of Appeals has overturned convictions for a woman who drove her car into a group of pedestrians in Salem in 2010, killing two people. The Statesman Journal reports that the appeals court ruled that jury instructions given during Sophia Downing’s trial contained an error that could have had an effect on the outcome of the case. She could now face a new trial.
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) – Wearing a tiny swim suit and flashing his abs, Michael Phelps created quite the distraction at last night’s Arizona State University men’s basketball game. The Olympic great appeared from behind the ASU student section’s infamous “Curtain of Distraction,” yesterday as Oregon State’s Stephen Thompson Jr. missed two foul shots. ASU won the game.
