Marshfield sweeps Siuslaw
The Marshfield Pirates used 11-for-16 free throw shooting in the second half to hold off the Siuslaw Vikings 48-36 last night in Coos Bay. Trent Reavis led scoring for the Vikings with 15 points. The Pirates remain undefeated in Far West League play. In other boys’ Far West action last night, Douglas edged Brookings-Harbor 60-57; North Bend beat South Umpqua 36-24.
For the girls… The pirates dominated the Lady Vikings 43-28. Taylor Dotson led the Vikings with seven points and nine rebounds. Sierra Potter had seven steals and six points. Around the league, Brookings-Harbor held off Douglas 56-52; North Bend demolished South Umpqua 68-16.
Lowell takes two from the Sailors
In the Mountain West League, the Mapleton Lady Sailors wrapped up their home schedule with a 46-23 loss to Lowell. The Devils whipped the Mapleton boys 73-29. The final game of the season for the Sailors will be Thursday on the road in McKenzie.
State Cheer competition this weekend
The Siuslaw Viking cheer squad will be making a trip to Portland this weekend for the OSAA Cheerleading championships. The ten-member team includes sophomore Victoria Rojas, an All-State individual competitor. They’ll deliver a three-part routine at 9:35 Saturday morning at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland.
