LAS VEGAS (AP) – A federal grand jury in Nevada has indicted Cliven Bundy and four others on 16 charges related to an armed standoff near his ranch in 2014 over unpaid grazing fees. The 69-year-old rancher was arrested last week in Portland, where his sons are jailed and accused of organizing the occupation of Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. They had demanded that public lands be turned over to locals.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Jackson County residents eager to start growing marijuana may have to do so far away from neighbors as county officials have given preliminary approval to a buffer requirement. The Mail Tribune reports that the Board of Commissioners gave preliminary approval to a requirement that marijuana gardens be at least 75 feet away from neighboring property lines.

MCPHERSON, Kan. (AP) – A Kansas man accused in the fatal stabbing of a former Oregon resident has been ordered to stand trial. The Salina Journal reports that Samuel Darrah is charged with first-degree murder in the 2014 death of James Croft, who lived in Portland before moving to Kansas. Another man was sentenced to life in prison in the case and a third man is charged with felony murder in Croft’s death.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A former Eugene property manager is facing federal charges over claims that he cheated his victims out of $3.5 million. The Register-Guard reports that Terry Shockley faces two counts of wire fraud. His attorney said yesterday that Shockley plans to admit to the crimes. Prosecutors say Shockley misused his clients’ money, which should have been paid to the property owners.
