PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police say one person has died after a tree fell onto a pickup truck during a wind storm on the northern coast. KPTV-TV reports a tree fell onto the truck between Cannon Beach and Seaside on U.S. 26 about five miles east of U.S. 101. Winds topped 70 mph in Astoria last night.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon man has been convicted of murder for his role in the death of a man who was shot after a planned marijuana robbery went awry. The Oregonian reports that Francis Weaver of Canby was found guilty of charges in the 2014 death of Edward Spangler of Grants Pass. One of two other defendants in the case shot Spangler.
SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Authorities say they have arrested a carjacking suspect who led Keizer police on a brief chase before crashing into two police vehicles. The Statesman Journal reports no injuries were reported in yesterday’s incident. Ryan Daniel Otero has been jailed on several charges, including robbery and attempt to elude police.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police say they arrested a man who agreed to sell stolen Legos to undercover investigators. Officers say 25-year-old Pavel Kuzik was arrested in a stolen car last week. He was booked into jail on multiple warrants. Police say Kuzik was stealing expensive Lego sets and other items from stores and reselling them on a website.
