MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – The Jackson County District Attorney’s Office has decided not to file charges against 84-year-old former Congressman Bob Smith in a crash that killed a pedestrian. The Mail Tribune reports prosecutors said there wasn’t enough evidence to prove any wrongdoing in the Feb. 8 death of Jerry Hughes.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State University has agreed to pay $275,000 in a settlement with the Environmental Protection Agency, which found multiple hazardous waste violations during a 2013 inspection of the Corvallis campus. The Gazette-Times reports the agreement also requires OSU to provide comprehensive safety training to employees.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) – Authorities in Nebraska have dropped charges against an Oregon woman who they say was found carrying more than $100,000 of suspected drug money during a traffic stop along Interstate 80. The Lincoln Journal Star reports a sheriff’s deputy got permission to search the car driven by 23-year-old Ariana Moran of Portland and found the cash inside a spare tire.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Russell Westbrook had 17 points, 16 assists and 10 rebounds in his 12th triple-double of the season, and Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Portland Trail Blazers 128-94 last night. Damian Lillard scored 21 points and C.J. McCollum added 15 for the Trail Blazers, who have lost five of seven.
