UMATILLA, Ore. (AP) – Officials say a 60-year-old man who killed an 18-year-old woman and left her body in a plastic container in a storage unit has died in the Umatilla prison. Oregon Department of Corrections officials say staff found 60-year-old Ronald Marcus unresponsive in his infirmary cell at Two Rivers Correctional Institution. Officials did not release the cause of his death but say Oregon State Police are investigating.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Gov. Kate Brown has endorsed Hillary Clinton for president. The Oregon Democrat said Monday that Clinton can be counted on to deliver what Brown called “real results” as president and that the two of them share progressive ideas. Also, Bill Clinton made a surprise visit in downtown Portland before heading across the Columbia River to campaign in Vancouver, Washington for his wife.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A 27-year-old Pendleton man has been identified as the deceased victim in a double shooting on the Confederated Tribes of Umatilla Indian Reservation. The FBI says Anthony Jimenez died at a hospital. The other victim was hospitalized in serious condition.Victor Contreras of California was charged in the shootings and taken to Portland for an initial court appearance.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon State Treasury says about 1 million Oregon residents have no way to save for retirement through their employers. The Bulletin reports that that figure is more than 40 percent higher than the previous estimates of Oregon workers who lack access to work-based retirement plans. Workers not covered by employer’s retirement plans would be automatically enrolled and contribute to the Oregon Retirement Savings Plan, unless they opt out, as soon as July 2017.
