Redick added 17 and the Los Angeles Clippers pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat the Portland Trail Blazers 102-81 Wednesday night and take a 2-0 lead in their first-round playoff series. Damian Lillard and Mason Plumlee led the Blazers with 17 points each. CJ McCollum added 16 as Portland shot a season-worst 34.1 percent.
CLEVELAND (AP) — Taijuan Walker allowed just an unearned run over six innings, Norichika Aoki had a two-run triple in the second and the Seattle Mariners beat the Cleveland Indians 2-1 Wednesday night. Walker struck out six in defeating Cleveland for the third time in a year.
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets have signed offensive tackle Luke Marquardt, adding depth to their front line. Marquardt was signed by San Francisco as an undrafted free agent out of Azusa Pacific in 2013. Marquardt played basketball at Skyline High School in Sammamish, Washington.
IRVING, Texas (AP) — Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott says the conference’s representative on the NCAA’s Division One Council did not vote with the conference’s position when the council banned so-called satellite football camps earlier this month. After attending a College Football Playoff meeting Wednesday, Scott told reporters that 11 of 12 Pac-12 members were in favor of allowing coaches to participate in camps for high school players on other school’s campus. But UCLA athletic director Dan Guerrero, the Pac-12’s council representative, voted to ban satellite camps.
