It was a tough outing for the Vikings yesterday as they hosted the South Umpqua Lancers in a double header. In game one they couldn’t get their bats going. The Lancers struck with a 2 run first inning and they didn’t look back. Blanking the Vikings 14 – nothing. The nightcap also went to the Lancers 6-2 The Lady Vikings were also on the field against South Umpqua yesterday, falling to the Lancers 15 – 2 in Myrtle Creek… Siuslaw track and field standout Mikaela Siegel is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the Week. The senior placed in four events at last week’s Central Coast Invitational in Florence. Siegel won the triple jump; took 2nd in the 100 meter hurdles; 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles; and 4th in the high jump. Honorable mention is given to Celie Mans who ran a career best 10:27.52 to 7th place in the girls’ 3,000 meter at Saturday’s 52nd annual Centennial High School Invitational in Portland
