Prep track and field
Siuslaw had two single event winners at Saturday’s 67th annual Grants Pass Rotary Track and Field Meet. Annmarie Precht bettered her previous best long jump by 5 ½ inches, winning that event with a leap of 17-feet; ½ inch. Precht also finished 6th in the 200. Carissa Oliver claimed the discus title with a toss of 125’ 9”. She was third in the shot put with 37’ 10”… both marks were personal records.
Other top-5 finishes… Celie Mans was third in the 15-hundred. Mikaela Siegel finished in the top-10 in three different events, the 100-meter hurdles, 300 hurdles, and triple jump.
The Mapleton Sailors competed at the Crow Cinder Classic Friday afternoon. Cole Spencer won the high jump and was second in the long jump. Josi Hays was second in the discus; she took third in the shot put.
Siuslaw softball and baseball
On the diamond… Things came in threes Friday afternoon for senior softballer Hannah Bartlett. She was a combined three-for-three at the plate with three runs scored, three singles, three RBI and four walks as Siuslaw swept the Brookings-Harbor Bruins in two games… Siuslaw won the opener 10-2, then the nightcap 12-7.

College baseball…
Oregon dropped the opening game of a weekend series at home to the Washington State Cougars, 4-nothing, but bounced back to claim the series with an eight-run shutout win Saturday, then hanging on for an 11-7 win yesterday afternoon. Oregon is in Hillsboro this afternoon for a non-conference game against San Diego.
Bruce Fehmel (FEM-mul) picked up both wins in relief for the Beavers over the weekend as Oregon State edged the Stanford Cardinal. Fehmel earned the 3-2 win Friday and yesterday’s 11-4 win. The Cardinal took Saturday’s game six-nothing. Jake Thompson started Sunday’s game and had a 1-hitter going through four innings, before Stanford capitalized on an infield error and scored three runs.
