Five shut out innings of work Friday night by Eugene pitcher Dylan Cease helped the Emeralds hang on for a 5 – 4 victory over Vancouver at PK Park. The Em’s claimed a second victory over the Canadians Saturday night 3 – 2 and then wrapped the weekend’s play with its third straight win over Vancouver 6 – 2 Sunday. The three straight wins takes the Emeralds to 33 and 15 on the season. The series closes out tonight at PK Park Eugene.
Two state championship teams and eight individuals ranging from the late 1950s to as recent as 1997 will be inducted into the Siuslaw High School Athletic Hall of Fame August 19th during a special dinner at Three Rivers Casino.
Siuslaw Athletic Director Chris Johnson said this will be the sixth year of inductions… all hard earned.
219 — “I just think the success that Siuslaw has had, athletically over the course of time: it ranks right up there as one of the stronger athletic programs that certainly that I’m aware of. Especially for a public school and a school of our size.”
The 1996 Boys Cross Country team, coached by Johnson is one, along with the 1997 Boys Track and Field Team are on the list. Individuals include Harold McClellan, Les Conley, Toni Winther Stonelake, Dick Pickett, Danielle Wilson Glenzel, Brent Sanford, and Doug Kelley.
