Woahink Invitational draws dozens of teams

Siuslaw’s Celie Mans finished second behind Bandon’s Sailor Hutton at Saturday’s Woahink Invitational Cross Country meet.  Hutton won the individual girls’ with 19-minutes and 2-tenths of a seconds; Mans finished in 19-minutes, 26.4 seconds.

Central Catholic dominated both team competitions for the boys and the girls.

Isaac Griffes was the top finisher for Siuslaw in the boys’ race, he was 18th overall in 17-minutes, 48.6-seconds.

On the gridiron…

The top ranked North Bend Bulldogs put up 497 yards total offense on the way to a 63-26 victory over the Siuslaw Vikings in Florence Friday night.  Jared Brandt was back on the field at quarterback for Siuslaw, completing 13 of 20 passes for 206 yards and three touchdowns.

In other Far West League contests, Marshfield demolished Douglas 74-13; South Umpqua beat Brookings-Harbor 34-6.  Siuslaw will be in Coos Bay this Friday night against Marshfield.

It was an offensive explosion Friday night in Mapleton as the Yoncalla Eagles downed the Mapleton Sailors 108-72.

Pac-12 football…

Colorado crushed Oregon State 47-6 in Boulder Saturday afternoon.  The Beavers will host California this Saturday in Corvallis.

Luke Falk threw for 371 yards and Washington State scored six rushing touchdowns as the Cougars beat Oregon 51-33 Saturday in Pullman.  It was the third straight loss for Oregon… after the Ducks opened with two wins.  The Ducks will host number five ranked Washington at Autzen Stadium Saturday afternoon.
