Siuslaw seeking return to state meet with top-two finishes
The Siuslaw Vikings are on the course this afternoon for the Far West District Cross Country Finals… the girls are in pursuit of what would be their 14th straight district title… but runners from South Umpqua and North Bend will be working hard to end that streak.
The boys were second at district last year… they’re looking to make their 16th straight team appearance at the State meet with a top two finish.
Mapleton Harriers compete Friday
Three runners from Mapleton High School will be at Lane Community College in Eugene tomorrow for their District finals. Brittany Wilson will run at 12:30… Richy Gastelum and Cole Spencer start at 1:15. Coach and Athletic Director Aaron Longo said this is the first district cross country meet for the Sailors in 29 years… the program began anew this year with the core group of three runners.
