RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman ripped into the NFL on Thursday, questioning the league’s officiating and saying the decline in television ratings is due in part to the league simply not being fun anymore. Sherman was critical of the calls after Seattle’s 25-20 loss to New Orleans last Sunday. The Seahawks were flagged for 11 penalties versus just two for the Saints.

SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Mariners have exercised their $7 million option on outfielder Seth Smith for 2017 while declining their $4.25 million option on catcher Chris Iannetta. Seattle also reinstated Nathan Karns from the 60-day disabled list Thursday and said outfielder Nori Aoki was claimed off waivers by Houston.

SEATTLE (AP) — When the calendar turns to November, Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks get going. In each of the past five seasons, the Seahawks have posted a winning record once November arrives. Since 2012 when Russell Wilson landed in Seattle, the Seahawks are a combined 28-6 over the final two months of the regular season.

MONROE, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon Ducks have suspended linebacker Eddie Heard indefinitely following his arrest on misdemeanor assault and harassment charges. The University of Oregon Police Department said in a release that Heard punched a woman in the face outside of a Eugene bar early Sunday morning.
