CLEVELAND (AP) — Kevin Love scored 40 points, including an NBA-record 34 in just the first quarter, while LeBron James scored 31 with 10 rebounds and 13 assists as the Cleveland Cavaliers beat Portland 137-125. Love fell just three points shy of the NBA record for points scored in any quarter. Damian Lillard scored 40 points to lead Portland.

LAHAINA, Hawaii (AP) — Chris Boucher scored 21 points while Tyler Dorsey had 19 for No. 13 Oregon in a 79-69 win over UConn yesterday at the Maui Invitational. Dylan Ennis had 15 points and Jordan Bell had 12 for Oregon.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks expect to be without safety Earl Thomas as well as cornerback DeShawn Shead Sunday against Tampa Bay. Coach Pete Carroll was pessimistic about both yesterday. They suffered hamstring injuries last week against Philadelphia.

SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Mariners have pulled off a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks, sending right-hander Taijuan Walker to the Dbacks for shortstop Jean Segura and two prospects. Walker struggled with consistency and was 8-1 this season with a 4.22 ERA.
