Boys basketball opens with a win
Jake Hickson led scoring with 15 points; Kyle King and Trent Reavis each added 14 and the Siuslaw Vikings used a second half surge to beat the Creswell Bulldogs 65-48 last night in the boys’ season opener at home.
The game was tied at 25-all at the half, then opened the fourth quarter with a 12-0 run to pull away from the Bulldogs.
In the girls opener, Creswell came away with a ten point victory, 39-29. Destinie Tatum led Siuslaw with nine points.
Both boys and girls will be at home again tomorrow evening for non-league play against the Elmira Falcons.

Preseason All-American Dillon Brooks scored 21 points and Roman Sorkin had 15 as number 23 Oregon rolled to a 93-54 victory over Western Oregon last night in Eugene.
The Beavers are on the court tonight in Starkville, Mississippi where they’ll take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs at six. The pregame show on KCFM is at 5:30.
Prep wrestling begins today
Siuslaw grapplers are on the mat tonight at home where they’ll open the season with a pair of dual meets against North Bend and Reedsport. Wrestling begins at five.
