Prep basketball Friday night…
The North Bend Lady Bulldogs beat the Siuslaw Vikings 59-27. In other results, Douglas knocked off Marshfield 56-51 and Brookings-Harbor demolished South Umpqua 58-18. Friday’s results create a three-way tie at the midway point in the Far West League season with Marshfield, North Bend and Douglas all with 4-and-1 records. At 1-and-4, the Lady Vikings are in Fifth.

For the boys… North Bend remains undefeated in conference play after outgunning Siuslaw 68-39. The Bulldogs are alone atop the conference with a 5-and-oh record. Douglas drilled Marshfield 50-37; Brookings-Harbor outlasted South Umpqua 55-44. The Vikings, along with Douglas and Marshfield are all at 3-and-2 at the break, tied for second place. Siuslaw, boys and girls, will be at South Umpqua Friday night where they’ll open the second half of the season.

Turning to college basketball…
The Oregon Ducks’ 17-game winning streak came to an end Saturday evening in Boulder, Colorado. Derrick White scored 17 of his 23 points in the second half to key Colorado’s 74-65 upset that snapped number 10 Oregon’s streak that extended back to November 21st. It was also the seventh straight loss in Boulder for the Ducks who have never won there.
In Salt Lake City, Kyle Kuzma had 18 points and 12 rebounds and Utah held off a late rally by Oregon State for an 86-78 victory Saturday night. Stephen Thompson Junior led the Beavers with a career high 30-points leading a furious comeback attempt that got Oregon State within six points in the final minute.

Sydney Wiese (WEESE) scored 23 points and number 11 Oregon State Women made their last seven shots to close the game with a 15-4 run to defeat in-state rival Oregon 67-60 yesterday for the second time in three days. Oregon State held off the Lady Ducks 43-40 Friday night in Eugene.
