Eugene Holds Fast!
The Eugene Emeralds were happy to be home last night but it was no easy task to get by the Salem-Kaiser Volcanoes. The Ems started the 2nd inning in a 2-zip hole but quickly tied it up with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning. It was a 5-5 tie going into the 6th inning when Michael Cruz hits a 2 run blast over the right field fence giving the Emeralds a 2 run lead. The Volcanoes had a glimpse of hope after a throwing error by Emerald Pitcher Elvis Diaz allowed Salem’s Bryce Johnson to score. But that would be it for the Volcanoes and the Ems hold on for a 7 – 6 win. The Ems head to Salem this evening to continue the 3 game series.
