Emeralds Finish Series 2-1
23 year old Matt Swarmer picked up his third win on the year for the Eugene Emeralds and put in 6 innings of work. He did give up 3 runs on 4 hits including a Homer, but Eugene’s offense allowed him to stay in the game and he settled down by the 4th inning striking out 6. Eugene put 8 runs on the board and were leading 8 – 3 into the ninth when the Volcanoes of Salem – Kaiser mounted a comeback. With 2 men on Junior Arnion hit a line drive to center field and 2 runs scored for the Volcanoes. That prompted a pitching change for the Ems. With two outs the next batter grounded out to second base ending the game 8 – 5 for the Ems. Tonight the Emeralds host Hillsboro for a 3 game series.
