Police Search for Missing Dallas Woman
Police are looking for information regarding a missing person report filed on Friday. According to Dallas Police Heather Mounce Davison was last seen near Cox Rock north of Florence on Saturday. Police found her vehicle, a 2008 Red Chevy Cobalt parked on highway 101 at mile marker 181. Davison’s keys, purse, and identification were locked inside the vehicle. Her cell phone was found in nearby bushes. Police believe that Davison came to the area of her own free will. The US Coast guard responded and searched the area by helicopter and Yachats Rural Fire sent their rope team to search the rocks. John Stanislaw with the Lincoln County Technical rope rescue team.
“In that location there are several paths that lead right to the edge of the cliffs and just based on that they thought it was prudent to search the area there and search over the side of the cliff.
Stanislaw says in that area the brush is head-height and a physical search was necessary to determine if someone had fallen. The rope rescue team found no evidence that anyone had fallen into the bushes. Police are still looking for clues to Davison’s disappearance. She is 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 170 pounds. Straight Black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Oregon State Police.
Fire Level: Moderate
Cooler and damper weather has allowed the fire level in western Lane County to be decreased to Moderate. Grant Smith from the Oregon Department of Forestry has issued the warning level change due in part to cooler temperatures and recent small amounts of precipitation. The Moderate level means that the mowing of dry grass will be allowed up until 1pm daily. Smith does warn that typical August patterns will return though and another change in Fire Levels could happen. Fires around the state continue to burn but the weather has assisted in helping to control them. The fire at a mill in Junction City continues to burn authorities are still looking into the cause of that fire. Smoke is not expected to affect our skies here in Western Lane County.
Survey Results to be Looked Reviewed
EMAC, the Environmental Management Advisory Committee will be holding a work session tomorrow evening at 6pm at city hall. The committee will review responses to the Food Container Survey that is currently listed on the City’s website. The City is seeking feedback on the use of Styrofoam containers by restaurants and other businesses. It is a brief 5 question survey that takes about 5 minutes to complete. The advisory committee will consider changes to the current code as it pertains to the use of Styrofoam and public input is requested. Styrofoam is non biodegradable substance that adds to the pollution of roadsides and waterways.
Another Tragic ATV Accident
A female teen was the victim of yet another ATV fatality. A Mapleton high school student was killed when the ATV she was riding crashed on Saturday. This is the third such tragic accident in recent weeks. There are currently no further details on the crash. The family of the teen has close ties to Florence. Coast Radio News will not be releasing the name of the victim until official word comes from The Lane County Sheriff’s office which is in charge of this investigation and a report from them is imminent.
