Eugene Emeralds Struggling
Make it 4 in a row now for the Eugene Emeralds. Over the weekend the Ems had a tough time getting out of a hole losing first on Friday evening 11-1 to the Hillsboro Hops. They were looking for a fresh start as they returned home for a 4 game stand against the Boise Hawks, but Saturday left them wanting as they went into the ninth inning leading 5-4 but then gave up two runs losing 6-5. On Sunday it was quite an exciting game as the two teams combined for 33 hits on the night and the game went late into the evening. The Ems and Hawks were tied 4-4 in the ninth and the game kept going. Both teams scored twice in the 11th inning for a 6-6 tie and then in the top of the 15th the Hawks broke away with 5 runs for an 11-6 lead. No response from the Emeralds in the bottom of the inning and the game was over. Both teams put 6 pitchers on the mound.
