Hawkins to Replace Retiring Yecny
Peace Health has announced a new Chief Administrative Officer for Peace Harbor Medical center. Jason Hawkins will be taking over the reins for Rick Yecny who will be retiring later this year. Hawkins has most recently been the CEO for Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, PA. He brings over 30 years of “proven and diverse experience in the health care industry. Hawkins will assume his responsibilities with Peace Harbor on October 30th. Hawkins, an outdoor enthusiast, and his wife DeAnn are looking forward to their move to the Northwest for the many amenities the area has to offer as well as being closer to their three children, one of whom is currently attending the University of Oregon.
Handy Receives Settlement
Lane County has decided to settle its lawsuit with a former Lane County Commissioner. In a battle which started in the courts in 2015 surrounding allegations of misconduct Lane county decided to award Rob Handy $89,000 without an admission of wrongdoing. The settlement also included an agreement that Handy would terminate his circuit court case against the county. The Register Guard reports that the county wanted to avoid the costs that could potentially mount if the cases continued. Handy initiated the law suits after he said three other commissioners colluded to release a letter stating that Handy had applied pressure to a local resident to make campaign contributions. The letter was released prior to the primaries and Handy was defeated by a 2-1 margin. Handy maintained that the charges were cooked up in order to smear his reputation.
Missing Eugene Woman Sought
Lane County Sheriff’s office is looking for public support in finding a missing Eugene woman. 33 year old Katie Goodnight was reported missing on September 3rd after she dropped off her daughter with family to visit her boyfriend. She never arrived and has not been seen since. Family believes that she has no money and she has been struggling with drugs and trying to get her life together to reunite with her children. She has not used her credit card or cell phone. She is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall with straight long blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen driving her 2003 brown Chevy Blazer license plate ZSH-865.
