Lady Viks Fall Short
Siuslaw Lady Vikings split a set each with the Scappoose Indians before losing the tiebreaker 15-11 in the Junction City Invitational on Saturday.
Woahink Lake XC Invitational
In Cross Country, sophomore Hannah Rannow, finished the 5000 meter with a personal best 20:05.02, in Saturday’s Woahink Lake XC Invitational. For the boys, sophomore Brendon Jenson led the Vikings and took 12th overall in the 3000 meter with a time of 17:30.7. The Boys finished 2nd overall and the girls 3rd overall.
Mapleton Scores a Win
Mapleton 8 man football defeated North Douglas 56-36 Friday evening. Senior Dominic Wells had 16 rushes for 162 yards with three touchdowns. 2 rushing and one throwing. The 6’6” 200 pounder also had 18 tackles on defense. Coach Jeff Greene said it was the best individual performance that he had seen in a long time. Junior Evan Moso also had a good showing with 16 rushes for 290 yards and 3 touchdowns with 6 tackles and one interception on defense. Greene said the most amazing performances on the evening though was the offensive line. Solid teamwork, great execution and hustle made it possible for the offense to move the ball effectively.
Ducks Beat Cal Despite Injuries
The Ducks went to 4-1 on Saturday beating Cal 45-24 after losing a total of 5 players to either injury or penalty. Running back Royce Freeman was the first to exit the game with a shoulder injury followed by QB Justin Herbert. They both left the game with a 17-0 lead. Afterwards the offense fell flat for a bit and it lasted into the 3rd quarter until the Ducks found their rhythm again. the ducks also lost wide Receiver Dillon Mitchell and Kaluana Apelu to injuries and Safety Tyree Robinson was ejected for a targeting penalty.
Beavers Beat at Home
The Oregon State Beavers lost to the Washington Huskies on Saturday 42-7. The beavers are 1-4 on the season and 0-2 in the PAC-12.
