Athlete Of The Week: Dominic Wells
This week’s Athlete of the week honors goes to Mapleton Sailor senior, Dominic Wells. Dominic had a double/double in last Tuesday’s win against the Mohawk Mustangs scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Coach Wolgamott says that, even in situations where the team struggles, Wells is consistently putting his best efforts on the floor. Honorable mention also goes to a Sailor this week as junior Gabe Simington posted 13 points and 7 rebounds in their Mustang win.
Viking Girls Beat Sweet Home
Siuslaw Viking Girls have put a “W” in the books. Last night at home the Vikings took on Sweet Home. Brea Blankenship led the Viking Girls with 13 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Final Score 38-27.
Viking Boys: Close…
The Boys had a tougher time in their match-up, the boys came from behind after wiping away an 11 point deficit at the half and tying it up at the end of the third quarter. They fell behind slightly again in the fourth but got within one point of the Huskies with a minute left. But the huskies held on for a 43-41 victory. Viking senior John Rollin led scorers with 14. Senior Kyle King scored 13.
On the Court Tonight
Siuslaw girls host Reedsport’s Brave this evening at Glen Butler Court in game one of a non league double header. Tip off is at 6 o’clock… The Viking Boys will take on Reedsport this evening at Siuslaw High School, tip off is set for 7:30….
