Special Division Planned
According to a report first released by Exploding Whale Sports there is likely to be a split division in high school sports next year. Siuslaw Viking Football may be moved into a special division created by the Oregon Schools Activity Association. Based on size and winning percentage Siuslaw High School cannot be competitive with larger schools in the current 4A districting plan and hopes to move them into a special division with like schools is currently on the table. A news release by the OSAA says it gives schools until the 5th of January to comment on the new plan and another meeting of the OSAA committee will be on January 9th in Wilsonville. The proposed division for the Vikings is a 3A 12 team division that includes La Pine, Sutherlin, Harrisburg, Brookings-Harbor, Pleasant Hill, and 6 others.
