Athlete of the Week
Coast Radio Sports Athlete of the Week is Viking senior basketball player Jake Hickson. Hickson excelled in both of last week’s wins with 29 points against the North Bend Bulldogs on Tuesday and a strong team leading 12 points in the final regular season game against South Umpqua.
Honorable mention goes to fellow Viking basketballer, Jared Brandt for his contributions of 12 and 9 points respectively in both Siuslaw victories.
Lady Ducks Take Overtime
The Duck women in Eugene last night gave up a 19 point lead to the UCLA Bruins but managed a 101-94 overtime victory which put them in the lead in the pac 12 with one week to go in the regular season. The Ducks finish out the season in Arizona this weekend facing the Sun Devils on Friday and the Wildcats on Sunday.
Beavers Start 4-0
On the Diamond the Oregon State Beavers start our the season 4-0 after defeating the New Mexico Lobos yesterday in Surprise Arizona. The Beavers capped of the Sanderson Ford College Baseball Classic with a middle inning 15 run tyrade. Second baseman Nick Madrigal went 4-4 on the night scoring 3 of those runs with two RBI’s. Jordan Britton get the win for the beavs with a solid 4 innings pitched and no hits. Final score in the desert 15-3
