Vikings Break Late
The Siuslaw Vikings held the lead late into the game yesterday in Sutherlin. With strong pitching from Gabe Simington and some good run support the Vikings managed to take a 4 nothing lead into the bottom of the 6th inning. Simington had 10 strike outs for the Vikings allowing only 3 hits. Jared Northrop came in for relief and the Bulldogs found their bats. Scoring 5 runs in 2 innings for a 5-4 comeback win. Overall, despite the loss, coach Tom Shinn said he liked the progress that the Vikings had made since Friday’s outing. Shinn said the team was hitting the ball and coming up with some solid defensive plays.
