Two Weekend Track Events For Siuslaw
The Siuslaw Viking Track and Field team had a busy weekend. On Friday at the Central Coast Invitational sophomore Kiger Johnson won the Men’s Varsity 800 meters with a time of 2:08.07. Brendon Jensen finished 3rd in the 3000 meters at 9:28:38 for a personal record. KC Tatum took first place in the discus with a toss of 139 ft 7.5 inches for a personal record and finished second in the Shot Put with a distance of 41ft 7in. Ryan Rendon-Padilla took first place with a personal best throw in the javelin of 167 ft 10 inches.
For the ladies, sophomore Hannah Rannow took first place in the 800 meter with a personal record time of 2:21.98. Junior Madison Reynolds took second in the shot put with a distance of 32 ft. 2 inches a season best toss for her. Freshman Andrea Osbon took second in the discus with a 101 foot 6 inch personal record toss.
On Saturday at the 54th Centennial Invitational Hannah Rannow finished 6th in the 3000 meter with a personal record time of 10:29.29
Viking Ladies Split with Brookings-Harbor
Siuslaw softball had the ladies visiting Brookings-Harbor where they split a pair in double header action. The early game the lady Vikings won in 9 innings 15 -14 and fell 16-5 in the nightcap. The Vikings have taken 2 of three from the bruins. Special recognition goes to Alexis Smith who racked up some impressive stats for the 3 game series: Batting over .750 with a 1.667 slugging percentage. She put up 2 homers with 9 rbi’s, 8 runs, and 5 stolen bases.
Tough Time for Viking Boys
At home on Friday the Viking Boys hosted the Brookings-Harbor Bruins in a league action double header. In the first game the Bruins took a 6-2 lead in the second inning and didn’t look back defeating the Vikings 18-2. Gabe Simington gets the loss with Siuslaw putting up 4 pitchers in the game.
Game two for the Vikings was error ridden with 7 total errors. Starter Evan Teter gave up 10 runs on 8 hits in two and a third innings pitched. The Bruins scored 13 runs on 13 hits. Siuslaw scored 3 runs on 6 hits. 13-3 was the final.
Beavers Sweep Civil War Match-Up
Civil war matchup in Corvallis was a clean sweep for the Beavers. After Thursday’s win the beavers came back with a 2-1 win on Friday and a 12-5 win on Saturday.
