Elmira Up First For the Viks
The Siuslaw Vikings are preparing for its opening football game of the 2018 schedule. The Vikings first opponent will be the Elmira Falcons. Although classified as a 4A school, the Siuslaw Vikings will be playing in a 3A Special District 2. The first three games for Siuslaw will be non league competitions. August 31st will be at home against Elmira, then on September 7th at home again against Philomath and September 14th at Newport. First league game will be an away game against Harrisburg on September 28th.
Emeralds Face Tough Pitching
Pitching was the highlight of last night’s Emeralds / Hops matchup. In the end it was a one rbi line drive double by Hillsboro’s Keshawn Lynch that put the Hops ahead 2-1. 3 Hops pitchers combined for 8 strikeouts and 5 hits. Eugene’s 19 year old Lefty Brailyn Marquez pitched 6 and 2/3’s innings allowing 2 runs and 6 strikeouts. The two teams meet again tonight in Hillsboro at 7:05
