Farmer’s Market Workshops

The Farmer’s Market in Old Town returns for a new season.  The market will be again open on Tuesdays beginning on May 14th.  This year the market is beginning the season with a free education series called Local Matters.  Local Matters offers mini workshops on food related topics that are intended to be fun as well as educational.  On May 14th  local gardeners will share their food growing experience in Florence.  May 21st will feature Jan Nelson who will be presenting on Backyard Wild Edibles, and on May 28, Dave Williams will provide information on beekeeping.  Workshops begin at 4pm and last an hour.  the market will also offer Double up bucks for community members participating in the SNAP program allowing shoppers to redeem up to $10 in matching funds to purchase fresh, local produce.  The Farmer’s Market will be located on the property just west of the Veteran’s Memorial Park on Bay Street each Tuesday beginning May 14th and running through October 15, from 3-6 pm.

WLAD Life Med

Western Lane Ambulance District is reminding residents that beginning july 1st it will be time to renew your life-med subscriptions.  Life Med is a service provided through the district to provide medically necessary pre-hospital care and ground transportation within their service area.  Ambulance trips and care can cost up to thousands of dollars but with life-med there is an annual fee of $65.00.  And includes all persons who are permanent residents of the same single-family household in a non-commercial residence, including domestic partners, but does not include roomers or boarders.

Save on Florence Fest Tickets

Today is your last chance to take advantage of lower prices for the Florence Fest ’19. Festival goers that wait until tomorrow will pay an additional $3 per ticket.  The annual Festival kicks off tomorrow at 2 pm and will feature three jazz acts on Friday and 4 on Saturday.  There are also 12 wineries offering tastings and a juried art show and sale.  Tickets are 20 dollars for Friday and 25 for Saturday through the end of day today.

Mural Work Begins

Preliminary work on the controversial mural slated for the Central Lincoln PUD building has begun.  This week workers were preparing the site by power washing the building and removing plants from the side of the structure.  The artists will be in town the week of the Rhody Festival and will offer the community a day to participate in the painting of the mural.  More information will be made available as the date draws closer.
