Check Before Burning; Last Scotch Broom Disposal; Chamber to Introduce New Board

Check Before Burning

Although the Spring Burning season is slated to end on Saturday, it is a good idea to check with Siuslaw Valley Fire and Rescue before initiating a burn.  SVFR issues burn permits for Western Lane County.  Today’s warmer temperatures and dryer conditions will dry out brush and weeds quickly.  Also burning is not permitted in barrels anywhere in Lane County and burning within the city limits of Florence is also prohibited.  Dry, warmer conditions are expected to continue through the week with temperatures near or slightly above 80 degrees today with slightly cooler conditions expected for the rest of the week.  Temperatures in the valley are expected to reach the mid to upper 90’s.

Last Scotch Broom Disposal

This Saturday is your last chance this season to dispose of scotch broom.  The monthly yard debris collection will be located at the north end of the airport on Kingwood and 27th street.  Standard pick-up loads are $11.00 that also includes small utility trailers.  Medium trailers are $16.00 and $21.00 for large utility trailers.  Anything over 20 cubic yards is an additional $5 per yard.  Collection times are 9am until 2pm.

Chamber to Introduce New Board

The Florence Area Chamber of Commerce will host its annual meeting this Thursday evening from 5:30 until 7pm.  The Chamber will honor its outgoing board members and introduce new board members and officers.  The event will be held at Three Rivers Casino Resort.  Contact the Florence Area Chamber for details and to RSVP for the event.  It is an Adult Only event.
