Vikings Blank LaPine; Mapleton Will Play Away; Ducks Move Up In Poll; Volleyball Play-in

Vikings Blank LaPine

The Siuslaw Vikings are in the playoffs just one season after going winless.  The Vikings disposed of LaPine on Friday night scoring 32 points and holding La Pine scoreless.  Hector Garcia had 14 rushes for 71 yards on the night.  Defensively, Rhys Flemming totaled 8 tackles with two interceptions and an offensive touchdown pass.  The Vikings with a 3-1 record are guaranteed a spot, but still have to get past Sutherlin this Friday night to determine which team they will face.

Mapleton Will Play Away

Mapleton’s two game slide means that they will have to go on the road to face Perrydale.  Friday night the Sailors lost to North Douglas 36-20 which puts them at 6-2 on the season.  JJ Neece rushed for 291 yards on 23 carries.  Perrydale is 7-1 for the year, the Sailors play on Friday.

Ducks Move Up In Poll

The Oregon Ducks squeaked by Washington state on Saturday with a last second field goal to give them the win.  The Ducks 37-35 victory also keeps them in the hunt for a playoff berth for the national championship.  The Ducks are 5-0 in the PAC 12 and 7-1 on the season and have moved up to #7 on the top 25 poll.

Volleyball Play-in

The lady Vikings will have one shot at continuing their season tomorrow evening in Astoria.  The one game play-in will be held against the Fishermen beginning at 5:15.
