Exploding Whale Sports Hints at Shutdown
Stan Pusieski, the creator of Exploding Whale Sports has announced on Facebook that his sports page will be maintained through July 6, the fifth anniversary of its creation. The heading merely says Thank You Florence. It’s been a blast. Coast Radio has reached out to Stan for more details, but has not yet received a response. Pusieski spent 45 years as a sports journalist before retiring to Florence. His in-depth look into local sports, particularly Siuslaw athletics, and his meticulous eye for detail has been a great addition to the local community.
Sabally, Herbert Honored
Despite the shortened school year the UO athletic department has moved forward with 2019-20 awards. The School’s prestigious Jackson and Emerald Athletic Awards have gone to Satou Sabally and Justin Herbert for their leadership, scholarship, citizenship and athletic ability. Sabally was honored with the Jackson Athletic Award and Herbert the Emerald Athletic award.
