Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports Congratulate junior Cross country runner Rylee Colton as this week’s Athlete of the Week. At Saturday’s 4A state championships Rylee finished 5th overall with her best time of the season of 19:34.7 to help the Ladies team bring home the championship.
Honorable Mention goes to Braydon Thornton. Braydon had 4 touchdowns in Friday’s win over Sutherlin in the Vikings final game of the season.
Soccer Players Honored
Viking Soccer players were honored yesterday as 5 players were announced to the All-League roster. Jason Garcia received a first team nod and Jaxson Jensen was named to the 2nd team. Honorable mentions go to Daniel Paash, Noel Hernandez and Dylan Jensen.
Baseball Season Begins
The Siuslaw Viking Baseball team takes the field for the first time this season. Coach Tom Shinn says it was a short turn around for some athletes as several players are just coming off the football season. He says there has not been a lot of team practice time, but the team is up for the challenge against Cottage Grove this afternoon. Pre-game on KCST will begin at 4:45 with Wayne Sharpe and Randy Parades.
