Viking Softball
The Siuslaw Viking Softball team faced Marshfield yesterday afternoon. Maggie Manning started on the mound for the Viks. Marshfield managed 9 hits against Manning in 3 and 2/3rd innings scoring all of their 13 runs. Cate Waggoner finished out the game facing 5 batters and walking two. Bailey Overton had two of the three Siuslaw hits with an run and an RBI. Vikings committed 8 errors in the 13-2 loss.
Viking Baseball
The Siuslaw Viking Baseball team also hosted Marshfield and allowed 20 runs on 15 hits with 4 errors. Isaac Garza started on the mound and allowed 12 of those runs on 8 hits and was tagged with the loss. Siuslaw walked 8. Siuslaw was scoreless until the 5th inning where they scored 4 runs. They added 3 more and the game ended 20-7 in favor of Marshfield.
Siuslaw Track and Field
Siuslaw Viking runner Hunter Peterson topped the board in the 100 meter race at the Sky-Em JV track and field tournament yesterday. Peterson finished with a time of 11.68 a personal record for him. Sam Ulrich and Chad Hughes were tops in the 1500 meter race with the junior Ulrich outpacing Hughes by just over a second with a time of 4:29.75. the team of Paasch, Jensen, Hughes and Ulrich finished first in the 4×400 relay.
Skyler Loomis finished first in the shot put with a distance of 39 ft and 7 inches a personal best for Loomis. He also finished first in the Discus and the Javelin. His throw in the javelin was 125-08 beating out teammate Christian Newlan by more than 18 feet. Camp Lacouture finished first in the Pole Vault and second in the Long jump.
On the ladies side, Gracie Freudenthal finished first in both the 100 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles. Andrea Osbon finished first in the shot put with a hurl of 37-06, she also finished first in the discus and javelin tossing the spike 100 feet. The team of Blankenship, Colton, Holbrook and Freudenthal too the 4×100 relay with a time of 4:30.0
