The Detroit Lions have selected Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell with the No. 7 overall pick in the NFL draft. Sewell will likely start at right tackle according to ESPN. The 6-foot-5, 331-pound Sewell did not play last season after starting his first two years at Oregon. He opted out of last year’s delayed Pac-12 season. Other Ducks selected in the 2021 draft were Jevon Holland in the second round by Miami, DD Lenore was taken in the fifth round by San Francisco, while two went in the sixth round. Brady Breeze was selected by Tennessee and Thomas Graham when to the Bears. Two Oregon State Beavers were drafted as well: Nahshone Wright went in the 3rd round to Dallas and in the 7th round Jermar Jefferson was drafted by Detroit

In Prep baseball Friday, Siuslaw fell to Cottage Grove in both halves of their double header to Cottage Grove 4 – 6 and 9 -11. In Prep Softball the Lady Viks split games against the Lions falling in game one 6 – 17 and battling back in game two to win 8 – 7. Siuslaw faces Elmira / Triangle Lake Tuesday.

College ball over the weekend Oregon State vs UCLA the Beavers dropped games 1 and 2 to the Bruins 5 – 6 on Friday and in a 2 run shut out Saturday before coming back for a 5 – 3 victory Sunday… Oregon split games in their series against Washington State taking game one with a 13 run shut out of the Courgars. Falling in two games 1 – 11 Saturday and 11- 6 Sunday. The Ducks match up this afternoon against the Gonzaga Bulldogs has been cancelled.
