Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate junior Siuslaw basketball player Izaac Mattson as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Coach Dylan Perry says Izaac has come on strong of late scoring 14 points in Thursday’s win against Elmira. On defense he held Elmira’s top scorer from Tuesday’s game to just 2 points.
Honorable Mention goes to Mapleton girls basketball player junior Opal Burress. Though Mapleton has been winless this season, Opal continues to be the leader and court general for the Sailors and has been their most prolific scorer scoring in double figures multiple times during the season.
Mapleton Over Triangle Lake
Mapleton Boys Basketball defeated Triangle Lake last night 47-32, JJ Neece led with 16 followed by Jeremy Bender and AJ Moso with 9 each. the Sailors improve to 6-5 on the season and finish up at home on Wednesday against Crow.
Viking boys and girls basketball will be in Junction City this evening. Games will begin with a 5:30 broadcast on KCST.
