Emeralds Drop to Second
After taking the first three games from the Hillsboro Hops the Hops regained their composure and climbed back to win games Friday, Saturday and Sunday to even the series. The Hops won 4-2 on Friday, 8-5 on Saturday and 6-1 last night in Hillsboro. The three losses combined with a winning weekend for the Everett Aqua Sox pushed the Ems out of first place and are now a game and a half behind Everett with a chance to regain the league lead beginning tomorrow when the Ems meet the Aqua Sox for a 6 game stand at PK Park. Games begin at 7:05.
Athletes Honored
This year due to the crazy and shortened schedule for High School Sports there will not be an Athlete of the Year named for Siuslaw and Mapleton athletes. The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports will honor all the weekly athletes and the Honorable mentions officially in Wednesday’s edition of the Siuslaw News. 15 Vikings and 2 Mapleton Sailors received honors this past winter and Spring as Athletes of the Week as well as 13 Vikings and 2 Sailors as Honorable Mentions.
