Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw New and Coast Radio Sports congratulate senior Viking Football Quarterback Beau Erickson as this week’s Athlete of the Week. In Friday night’s win over the North Valley Knights Erickson threw for 330 yards for the 3rd most passing yards in a single game in Viking history. He threw four touchdown passes and rushed for another while spreading the ball around, allowing several other Vikings the opportunity to score.
Honorable mention goes to senior receiver Braydon Thornton who had 7 receptions for 210 yards and 3 TD’s including a 91 yard touchdown. He also had a a defensive interception.
Siuslaw Soccer
Siuslaw soccer had a difficult time getting goals past the Tillamook goal keeper in yesterday’s soccer match. The varsity teams matched up well in size, but according to coach Londi Tomaro they were not able to create many scoring opportunities. On the opposite side Tillamook scored 4 goal in the first half and added a 5th in the second. The JV squad won their first game of the season. Their next games are Thursday at home against Pleasant Hill.
Mapleton Volleyball
Mapleton Volleyball plays this evening at 6pm they host Crow.
