Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate senior Viking football lineman Henry Rankin as th is week’s Athlete of the Week. Henry’s efforts on the offensive and defensive line were instrumental in the Vikings 34-26 win against La Pine. Henry had 2 sacks and 3 tackles for loss and went up against the all state linemen of La Pine and not allowing a sack on offense, holding them at bay all night according to Coach Sam Johnson.
Honorable Mention
Honorable mention goes to Viking volleyball player Zoe Alberty who continues to impress coach Kari Blake with her setting abilities and giving the hitters great sets to hit. Zoe was instrumental in the straight set win against Marist on Thursday.
Soccer Results
The Marshfield Pirates outgunned the Siuslaw Vikings on the soccer field last night as they took a 7-0 lead on the Vikings in the first half. The game ended with in just 22 seconds into the second half as Marshfield scored their 8th goal enacting the mercy rule.

Everett to Join Trailblazers Broadcast
Former Coast Radio on air personality and current ESPN analyst Neil Everett will join the trailblazer television crew to host the pregame, halftime and post-game segments for most of Portland’s road games this season. Everett has been an anchor for ESPNews since 2000.
