Nick Lutz Tournament
3 Siuslaw Vikings place first in the Nick Lutz Memorial Wrestling tournament on Saturday. Yoskar Delamora defeated Santiam Christian’s Sam Schmidgall for his first place finish in the 120 pound category. Hunter Petterson defeated David Apodaca from North Eugene in the 132 pound weight class. Dayne Muller was the 3 Viking in the 195 pound class to place first defeating Adair Ortega from North Eugene. The Viking boys finished first overall.
Mason Buss had a second place finish. Chance Obrien, Cort Wagonner, Joel Sissel and Ryan Clark Had third place finishes.
The Viking Girls also participated. Macali Lade took first place in the 110 pound class defeating Summer McKeen from Elmira, Makayla Freeman also finished in first place in the 135 weight class defeating fellow Viking Brooke Olson. Chris Hoover place second in the 100 pound class. Brooke Olson and Rosa Velasco Mendez placed third in their respective classes.
Vikings/Spartans
Friday night the Siuslaw Vikings fought tough with Marist until late in the 4th quarter as Marist took hold of the game and pulled out the win 58-52.
The Lady Vikings only managed 10 points to the Marist Spartans 44 in the late game.
College Hoops
The Oregon Ducks were victorious over #5 USC on Saturday. 79-69. Senior Will Richardson led the Ducks with 28. The UCLA Bruins came back from their loss to the Ducks to defeat the Oregon State Beavers 81 -65 on Saturday.
