Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate freshman Lady Viking Macali Lade as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Macali kicked of Conference Duals last week by defeating to Elmira wrestlers by pin in the 120 pound weight division before a grueling 4-3 victory over Cascade Cougar Krystaline Kamstra, earning her a first place finish.
Honorable mention goes to another Siuslaw wrestler, senior Hayden Muller, Hayden successfully pinned two opponents in last Wednesday’s Conference Duals in the 135 pound weight class
Mapleton Sailors Basketball
The Mapleton Sailors were on the court last night against Siletz Valley the boys were defeated 58-26, the Sailor ladies were successful in their game 41-8 led by Helen Burruss with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 steals.
The Mapleton Sailors will be on KCST this evening as they host Mohawk. The pregame will begin at 5:15 with the Girls up first. Bob Sneddon and randy Paredes will call the game.
Siuslaw Basketball
The Siuslaw Vikings will be on the court this evening hosting Elmira at Glen Butler Court. the boys are up first at 5:45 and the girls follow at 7:15.
Siuslaw Wrestling
Conference Duals are scheduled for wrestling today. The Vikings will travel to Philomath and will compete against Sweet Home, Newport and Philomath.
