Viking Wrestling
Siuslaw Viking girls wrestling competed on Saturday in the OSAA Girls Special District 2 meet. Hayden Muller took the top spot in the 135 pound weight class defeating opponents from Sweet Home and Cascade Christian before winning a major decision over Grants Pass’ Morgan Edwards.
A Second place finish went to freshman Macali Lade in the 110 pound weight class and Makayla Freeman won 3-5 matches after losing by fall in the round 5 consolation to North Medford’s Isabella Jaime.
Viking Basketball
Friday night the Siuslaw Viking Ladies Basketball hosted Marist Catholic. Marist defeated the girls 59-16.
Viking boys are scheduled to be back on the court tomorrow against Marshfield at home beginning at 7:15. The girls will also play beginning at 5:45.
Mapleton Basketball
Mapleton Basketball was at Triangle Lake on Saturday the boys were defeated 53-20, Sailor girls were defeated 42-31.
College Hoops
The Ducks defeated Utah Saturday night 80-77. The Utes misses a last second 3-pointer that would have tied the game. Ducks Will Richardson led the charge with 25. The Oregon State Beavers have lost their last 7 games including an 86-63 loss to Colorado on Saturday. The beavers take on Cal on Wednesday the Ducks host Stanford on Thursday.
