Stayton Invitational
Several Siuslaw Athletes garnered personal records and first place finishes in Saturday’s Stayton Invitational. For the boys in track junior Hunter Petterson finished in first place in the 200 meter race with a personal record time of 22.82. he also set a personal record time with a third place finish in the 4oo meters. Senior Chad Hughes finished in second place in the 1500 meters with Jacob Blankenship finishing 4th with a personal record of 4:28.14. Junior Sam Ulrich finished first in the 3000 meter with a personal record time of 9:13.26 with senior Chad Hughes on his tail at 9:15.59. Senior Camp Lacouture took the 3 place spot in the 300 meter hurdles with a seasons best 44.62. the boys finishes first in the 4×100 relay and third in the 4×400 relay. For the ladies senior Rylee Colton took the top spot in the 1500 meter race with a personal record time of 5:00.26 followed by freshman Maya Wells with a personal record time of 5:15.81. Colton also finished fourth in the 800 meters and sophomore Corduroy Holbrook had a personal record 7th place finish at 2:32.86. Freshman Mary McNeill took third place in the 3000 meters at 12:05.04.
In Field events junior Jonathan Rose got fourth place in the discus with a toss of 132’8.” Senior Rhys Fleming took third in the javelin with a toss of 144’5” followed by Jonathan Rose with a personal record of 139’4”. Camp Lacouture took the top spot in the Pole vault clearing 13’ even and sophomore Talan Ross finished second with a personal record of 11’-0.
College Baseball
After dropping their first game 2-1 on Friday the Oregon State Beavers took the next two games in the series against Utah finishing with a 9-1 victory on Saturday and a 3-1 victory on Sunday. Oregon State is atop the Pac-12 conference at 15-6.
The Oregon Ducks took their series against the Cal Bears but dropped the last game 9-8 on Sunday. The Ducks led 5-3 after 7 innings but gave up 5 runs in the 8th partially due to a fielding error which scored 4 runs. The Ducks came up short in the bottom of the 9th scoring 3 runs.
