Shepard Clears PR in High Jump
Mapleton Senior Joe Shepard topped his personal best in the high Jump yesterday as a wild card in the event. Shepard cleared 5’10” yesterday for a 6th place finish. Shepard competes today in the Triple Jump.
State Track and Field Championships
The 4A state championships begin today at Hayward field in Eugene. Several Siuslaw Athletes will be competing including Chad Hughes, Sam Ulrich, Hunter Petterson, Joel Hernandez, Jonathan Rose, Camp Lacouture and Kyle Hughes. For the Ladies Rylee Colton will compete in the 3000 and 1500 meter races and the 4×400 relay team of Maya Wells, Rylee Colton, Macali Lade and Corduroy Holbrook will compete.
Viking Baseball
The Siuslaw Viking have the chance to keep advancing in the baseball playoffs. All they have to do is get past Tillamook this evening. the Vikings travel up the coast for a 5 pm game. Wayne Sharpe will have the coverage starting at 4:45.
Ducks/Wildcats
The Oregon Ducks started their series with the Arizona Wildcats off strong. A 5 run second inning set the pace for the team. The Wildcats managed 12 hits on the night but it was the Ducks night as they outscore the ‘cats 10-4. Game two this evening from PK Park at 4 pm.
Beavers/Bruins
The Oregon State Beavers got off to a rough start against the visiting UCLA Bruins. The Beavers managed only 3 hits on the night and scored one run. The Bruins took a 2-1 lead into the ninth and a pair of singles with runners on scored 2 more for a 4-1 final. The Beavers and Bruins continue this evening at 6 pm with a 5:30 start on KCFM.
