Athletic Championships
The City of Eugene and outlying areas, like Florence, are gearing up for the World Athletic Championships beginning two weeks from today. Athletes from all over the world will meet for the two week event. expectations are that cities nearyby the championships will benefit with tourism dollars during the competition. The event was planned to coincide with the completion of the new facility at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.
Ems Baseball
The Everett Aquasox outgunned the Eugene Emeralds last night at PK Park 4-3. The Ems were trailing 4-1 when a pair of solo home runs in the 8th moved them within one, but the steam wasn’t enough to get them past the deficit. The Ems and Aquasox continue their series this evening at 6:35.
