Former Siuslaw Baseball Standout and OSU Beaver Jake Thompson received the word yesterday that he will be moving up. When initially contacted the 2A Portland Sea Dogs organization said they were not aware of the move, but offered to look into the inquiry. After a few moments returned to the call and said while it is unofficial, the official announcement will come from Major League Baseball Later today. Thompson flew out to Scranton to meet with the AAA Worcester Red Sox who are playing this evening in Pennsylvania. An unnamed source with the Portland Sea Dogs says if Thompson is activated this evening it will have to be posted at least two hours prior to scheduled game time which would be 1pm Florence time. Thompson has been hot of late posting a 1.44 ERA with 31 Strike outs over 25 innings. The same unnamed source with the Sea Dogs said Jake has been indispensible this season and his absence will be felt in their bullpen. The 27 year old Thompson underwent Tommy John surgery in 2019, and then saw limited innings during the pandemic.
