Mapleton School Superintendent

The new superintendent of Mapleton Schools will be taking on more than just overseeing the district.  Sue Wilson will also be taking over the principal spot for the High School and Middle School.  Over the summer she has been getting to know the community that she has worked with through the Lane County School District over the past several years.

“Checking in each staff member and getting to know students and families and local community members, seeing the potential right now, so in terms of concrete plans the first thing is to get the school year started.  And so we’ll get there”

Wilson says they have hired some new staff including an arts teacher.  The school will now offer a full time arts program with hopes of incorporating the industrial arts building and melding shop classes with classes like 3-d printing.  Wilson has a background in producing a broader based school experience, one that incorporated community into the students education. Wilson joins Coast Radio for a segment on our town next week.
