Emeralds Blast Indians
The Eugene Emeralds showed no mercy to the Spokane Indians last night in Spokane. The barrage began in the second inning with a Najee Gaskins bases loaded double followed by another double by Vaun Brown. A third double drove in Brown. 5 runs scored in the top of the second. A pair of homers in the 5th inning added three more runs for the Ems. After a pitching substitution in the top of the 9th inning Indians pitcher Juan Mejia hit two batters an infield single loaded the bases when Luis Matos comes to the plate to hit his second double of the night and clears the bases for the 11th run. Spokane came up short in the bottom of the ninth with 2 runs before the game ended on a ground out to first base. Final score 11-3. Series continues this evening at Avista stadium.
