Ems
The Eugene Emeralds lost a full game lead in the Norwest League standings last night as they gave up two 7th inning runs to the Hillsboro Hops breaking a 3-3 tie. One of the runs came on a wild pitch bringing a runner in from third base. The Ems put the tying run on base in the ninth inning with a two out single, but the game ended when Ems Luis Matos struck out swinging. The loss combined with a Vancouver win puts the Ems just a game and a half out front with just two weeks left in the season. The Ems are scheduled to face the Canadians in the final series of the season which will likely determine who will represent the Northwest League as Champions.
